Description

This is a paper sewing pattern; no PDF will be provided.

The Townsend Shirt is a modern take on the button up shirt. Both views feature grown on sleeves and wrap ties inbuilt into the front bodice. These ties cross over the button stand at the waist, to be tied at the back.
View A has a classic collar at the neckline, while View B has a round neck with a bound finish.

Available in sizes A to N

This pattern is for woven fabrics.

Suitable for intermediate sewers and above.

SUGGESTED FABRICS:

Light to mid weight woven fabrics: Use a shirting cotton or linen for a structured finish. For something drapier, you could try a Tencel, cupro or linen viscose blend.

Please ensure your fabric is washed and pressed before cutting out your pattern pieces.

NOTIONS:

- Thread
- View A: 6 buttons - 10mm - 12mm in size *
- View B: 5 buttons - 10mm - 12mm in size *
- 50cm of lightweight interfacing.
* You may prefer to have more buttons on your shirt, especially if you are lengthening the shirt.

FABRIC CONSUMPTION:

SIZES AVAILABLE:

A to N (see size chart in images)

FITTING NOTES:

This pattern has been drafted for a height of 5’7.
Unlike my other patterns, this pattern does not have different cup size options. This is due to the shape of the front bodice block being opened up to incorporate the wrap ties. An array of cup sizes should fit this design comfortably.

including a post on fitting adjustments for the Townsend Shirt

I recommend making a toile first to work out any fitting alterations you may need, before cutting into your chosen fabric. Make sure to use a fabric with a similar weight and drape to your chosen fabric.
