2 Hour Private Lesson with Miri - Saturday, February 8th
About Private Lessons at The Sewing Club
Private lessons at The Sewing Club allow for 1-on-1 support for your garment sewing project. This lesson is with Miri, an experienced seamstress with a drool-worthy wardrobe full of pieces she’s made. Miri brings a warm, welcoming, and positive energy to every class, and is a delight to learn from!
Our workshop space includes computerized sewing machines, sergers, irons, and various tools for marking, measuring, and more.
Participants should bring a project that they'd like to get help starting, need some encouragement with, or a project with a particularly tricky bit that they would like help perfecting. These sessions will focus on construction techniques rather than pattern drafting and advanced pattern alterations. If you're not sure if your project is suitable, please contact us before booking.
In a private lesson, you can get support on:
- Sewing fundamentals and terminology
- How to read a pattern & interpret instructions
- Tips for cutting and marking your fabric
- Sewing machine basics
- Serger basics
- More advanced techniques like zippers and buttons
- More advanced finishing and seam techniques
- And more!

Our workshops are held in small groups and usually sell out far in advance. It can be very difficult to fill a cancelled spot on short notice. In order to ensure we can continue offering small group sewing workshops, the following cancellation policy applies to all workshop purchases.
We understand people get sick, child care cancels, and other emergencies come up. We ask that you please read this policy before booking a workshop, and understand that we must adhere to it. Please be understanding of our limitations as a small, independently run business, and don't ask us to make an exception to our policy.
If you can provide over 48 hours notice:
If you need to cancel your spot and are able to give over 48 hours' notice, you will receive a digital store credit that can be used for a future workshop, to shop online, or to shop in person. Store credits never expire, and will be issued to the email used to book the workshop.
To cancel, contact us.
If you cancel within 48 hours of the start time:
It is very difficult for us to fill workshop spots on short notice. If you cancel within 48 hours or do not show for the workshop, you are not eligible for a store credit, and you are not able to pick up workshop materials.
If you are able to find someone to take your place in the workshop, contact us and we can try to arrange that they take your place. This is not guaranteed, especially if they require any custom pattern adjustments.
To cancel, contact us.
Arriving Late
If you arrive one hour (60 minutes) or more after the scheduled workshop time, that will be considered a no-show, and you will not be able to join the workshop, receive a store credit, or a refund.
Multi-Day Workshops
Partial refunds are not available for missed sessions or if you can't finish your workshop. If you can't attend workshop dates, contact us and we can arrange for you to finish the project during a co-working session or take it home. If you must schedule a follow-up session because you missed a class, there will be a charge for additional teaching hours.
If you must return because you could not finish your project in the scheduled time and you attended all sessions, there is no charge for the additional teaching time.
Agreeing to this Policy
When you sign up for a workshop, there is a checkbox to acknowledge that you understand and agree to this policy that you are required to select in order to sign up for the workshop. By checking this box and signing up for the workshop, you are agreeing to this policy.
