October 31st - Scary Things - Jeans Edition

October 31st - Scary Things - Jeans Edition

ABOUT THIS WORKSHOP

Zippers and pockets and buttonholes, oh my! We asked you which sewing skills "scare" you the most, and we received so many suggestions that we've decided to group them into themes, starting with jeans and pants.

In this very special Halloween-themed workshop, we're going to be working on the "scariest" pant-related sewing techniques - as voted by you!  This workshop would be a great place to start if you've been feeling intimidated by our garment workshops, have been wanting to try out a zipper or finishing technique without ruining your project, or if you're just really into Halloween. Together, we'll work through several sewing skills as you create samples that you can take home with you to reference for future projects.

All fabric, supplies, and equipment are provided. Please do not bring your own sewing machine to this workshop.

WHO SHOULD TAKE THIS WORKSHOP

  • Adults (16+)
  • Skill Level: Confident Beginner to Intermediate. No sewing is experience necessary to join this class, and there will be new and challenging techniques for all skill levels.

SKILLS YOU'LL LEARN

  • How to insert a closed-end zipper and finish a fly. We will construct a sample of a zipper fly so you can complete the process from start to finish and take the sample home with you to reference for your next pants project.
  • How to create a buttonhole and tips for success. This skill will apply to waistbands in pants, plackets in shirts, and many more future projects.
  • How to make a beautiful welt pocket - one of the spookiest sewing techniques out there! We will make a sample of a welt pocket and share advice on how to get a professional finish every time.

      Cancellation Policy

This policy is effective for purchases made on or after April 8th, 2024.

Our workshops are held in small groups and usually sell out far in advance. It can be very difficult to fill a cancelled spot on short notice. In order to ensure we can continue offering small group sewing workshops, the following cancellation policy applies to all workshop purchases.

We understand people get sick, child care cancels, and other emergencies come up. We ask that you please read this policy before booking a workshop, and understand that we must adhere to it. Please be understanding of our limitations as a small, independently run business, and don't ask us to make an exception to our policy.

If you can provide over 48 hours notice:

If you need to cancel your spot and are able to give over 48 hours' notice, you will receive a digital store credit that can be used for a future workshop, to shop online, or to shop in person. Store credits never expire, and must be issued to the email used to book the workshop.

      To cancel, contact us.

If you cancel within 48 hours of the start time:

It is very difficult for us to fill workshop spots on short notice. If you cancel within 48 hours or do not show for the workshop, you are not eligible for a store credit, and you are not able to pick up workshop materials.

If you are able to find someone to take your place in the workshop, contact us and we can try to arrange that they take your place. This is not guaranteed, especially if they require any custom pattern adjustments.

      To cancel, contact us.

      Arriving Late

If you arrive one hour (60 minutes) or more after the scheduled workshop time, that will be considered a no-show, and you will not be able to join the workshop, receive a store credit, or a refund.

      Multi-Day Workshops

Partial refunds are not available if you can't finish your workshop. If you can't attend the remaining workshop dates, contact us and we can arrange for you to finish the project during a co-working session or take it home.

      Agreeing to this Policy

When you sign up for a workshop, there is a checkbox to acknowledge that you understand and agree to this policy that you are required to select in order to sign up for the workshop. By checking this box and signing up for the workshop, you are agreeing to this policy.
