Intermediate: Jeans - Tuesdays in October

Intermediate: Jeans - Tuesdays in October

ABOUT THIS WORKSHOP

Let's make hard pants!

In this five-evening intermediate workshop series, we'll create a pair of jeans that fits you to perfection. We'll start with taking proper measurements, walk through any necessary pattern alterations to achieve the desired fit, cut fabric, and go through all of the construction steps necessary for jeans, learning tips and best practices along the way. Class size is limited to 4 students to ensure you receive plenty of one-on-one instruction opportunity.

You can make your choice of two designs, linked and described below. These designs have been chosen because they are tried and true, but if you feel strongly about making a different pattern, please reach out to discuss before signing up.

  • The Daughter Judy Worship Jeans ("women's fit"):

A classic five-pocket rigid jeans pattern. Slim fit through the hip and thigh with a pitched straight waistband. Choose between a straight or flare cut leg. Meant for a heavier weight fabric that will break in with wear.

  • The Modern Sewing Co Worker Trousers ("men's fit"):
The Worker Trousers are a roomy and generous cut that should sit comfortably on the waist, feel slightly more roomy on the hips and even more roomy around the thighs. Comfortable, stylish and designed to stand the test of time, you'll be using high end finishing techniques to create a really long lasting pair of trousers.

WHAT TO BRING/ WHAT'S INCLUDED

All fabric, supplies, and equipment are provided. You will receive a digital licence for the pattern and a copy to take home with you. Participants will have their own machine to use for the class, but can bring their own if they want to become more familiar with it.

SKILL LEVEL

  • Adults (16+)
  • Skill Level: Intermediate. Previous sewing experience is necessary to join this class. It's OK if this is your first pair of pants, but a general understanding of machine sewing and completion of a few previous sewing projects will be necessary in order to keep up with the pace of the class.

    Cancellation Policy

This policy is effective for purchases made on or after April 8th, 2024.

Our workshops are held in small groups and usually sell out far in advance. It can be very difficult to fill a cancelled spot on short notice. In order to ensure we can continue offering small group sewing workshops, the following cancellation policy applies to all workshop purchases.

We understand people get sick, child care cancels, and other emergencies come up. We ask that you please read this policy before booking a workshop, and understand that we must adhere to it. Please be understanding of our limitations as a small, independently run business, and don't ask us to make an exception to our policy.

If you can provide over 48 hours notice:

If you need to cancel your spot and are able to give over 48 hours' notice, you will receive a digital store credit that can be used for a future workshop, to shop online, or to shop in person. Store credits never expire, and must be issued to the email used to book the workshop.

    To cancel, contact us.

If you cancel within 48 hours of the start time:

It is very difficult for us to fill workshop spots on short notice. If you cancel within 48 hours or do not show for the workshop, you are not eligible for a store credit, and you are not able to pick up workshop materials.

If you are able to find someone to take your place in the workshop, contact us and we can try to arrange that they take your place. This is not guaranteed, especially if they require any custom pattern adjustments.

    To cancel, contact us.

    Arriving Late

If you arrive one hour (60 minutes) or more after the scheduled workshop time, that will be considered a no-show, and you will not be able to join the workshop, receive a store credit, or a refund.

    Multi-Day Workshops

Partial refunds are not available if you can't finish your workshop. If you can't attend the remaining workshop dates, contact us and we can arrange for you to finish the project during a co-working session or take it home.

    Agreeing to this Policy

When you sign up for a workshop, there is a checkbox to acknowledge that you understand and agree to this policy that you are required to select in order to sign up for the workshop. By checking this box and signing up for the workshop, you are agreeing to this policy.
